Abu Dhabi, a place that obtains most of its revenue from oil is now looking to diversify into the tourism industry. Attractions such as Formula 1 Etihad Airways Grand Prix, Ferrari World, and Yas Waterpark already exist, the newest one is going to be the Warner Bros theme park opening in July.
There is worry that the theme park will not be able to compete with the neighbouring tourist hub, Dubai. However, Mohamed Khalifa al Mubarak stated that they are hoping for returns in the long run. The city has attracted 4.8 million tourists last year. Abu Dhabi aims for 8.5 million tourists by 2021. The 1.65 million square foot park will include Gotham City, Cartoon Junction, Dynamite Gulch, DC Metropolis and Warner Bros plaza. Tourists lodging in Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara and other such 5-star hotels in Abu Dhabi will be sure to visit the theme park.
