The WiT Singapore conference highlighted the growing prominence of experiential travel, with travellers increasingly prioritising unique experiences as the main factor in choosing destinations. This paradigm shift, driven by younger, experience-focused generations, has made tours and activities central to the travel journey rather than an add-on. While this may not change things for accommodations and other choices for a Lavender MRT hotel, such as the V Hotel Lavender, this may bring about changes for policymakers elsewhere in Singapore.
Another significant point made was how advancements in AI and technology are enabling hyper-personalised travel experiences, driving the adoption of “connected trips,” where platforms bundle services such as flights, accommodations, and activities. Major online travel agencies are leveraging technology to scale operations while promoting sustainability. The online tours and activities market is poised for significant growth, with predictions of up to 60% of the sector transitioning online over the next decade.
