Negombo is a rather popular seaside town surrounded by a lagoon, known to attract tourists for its water sports, situated not too far away from both the Bandaranaike International Airport and Colombo.
In terms of surfing, the best time of year to visit would be between May and October as the lagoon waters are perfect. However, in terms of windsurfing, the recommended travel period is between January and March, when advanced windsurfers can really enjoy the waves. Amateurs, on the other hand, are welcome year-round as the winds are generally quite calm, making Negombo an ideal place to perhaps even make one’s first attempt at windsurfing. Visitors looking for a hotel in Negombo will never be shy of options with its numerous waterfront properties, such as the Amagi Lagoon Resort & Spa Negombo.
