Witness Esala Perahera progression in Kataragama

Celebrated since ancient times the Esala Perahera in Kataragama is a must attend by all who visits the country during the month of July and August. The rituals of the Perahera start from the 1st of July. This year the flag hosting of the Perahera will take place on the 17th of July and the main Perahera is scheduled to take place on the 31st of July. The fire walking ceremony of the Perahera is one of its highlights, where pilgrims of religious faith walk over burning logs.
