World Tourism Day Celebrations in the Maldives – Grand Events Planned

The Maldives is planning some grand events and celebrations this year to mark World Tourism Day which falls on 27th September 2019. This was brought to light by Ali Waheed, the Maldivian Minister of Tourism at a special reception held in July at Dharubaaruge, in the capital, Male. Such events will also put the spotlight on tourism and help to promote the country; tourism continues to play a vital part in the country’s economy with travellers been drawn to stay at a beach resort Maldives has to offer including the likes of Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives.

Part of the celebrations planned for World Tourism Day includes a world record attempt to form the ‘largest human ring’ around the capital, Male city. Additionally, freediving events will also be held along with the first-ever Bokkura (a type of small boat) race in the Maldives that will cover the entire country.
