Wuxi and Japan Continue to Strengthen Ties

In the last few years, there has been accelerated economic cooperation and development between Japan and the Chinese city of Wuxi, which has seen shared benefits for both parties. Factors such as convenient transportation and all-encompassing cultural exchanges have further solidified this partnership. Thus, it is not surprising that Japan was the second largest trade partner for Wuxi in 2022 with a trade value that reached $10.68 billion.

By the end of last year, Japan had invested in 1,278 companies in Wuxi including those specialising in intelligent manufacturing, integrated circuit and auto industries with investments reaching up to $16.65 billion. Companies in Wuxi have likewise invested in 72 projects in Japan, totalling up to $530 million to date. With the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) also coming into play in 2022, cooperation between the two has accelerated further, covering everything from medical care and education to sports, culture and more.

It should be noted that both these destinations continue to be hubs for tourism as well. Located in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province, Wuxi offers diverse discoveries and business opportunities. Amongst the top things to do in Wuxi include taking in the stunning scenery of Taihu Lake and exploring Huishan Old Town. Tourists can also visit the Three Kingdoms City, an expansive film set where the popular “The Romance of the Three Kingdoms” drama series is filmed. Such experiences can be enjoyed while staying at city hotels like the property of the Park Hotel Group, which also offers accommodation options in key destinations in Japan, such as Otaru and Kyoto for more sightseeing adventures.
