Yongphula Festival (Tshechu)

The Yongphula Tshechu is an annual festival held in eastern Bhutan that is absolutely popular and a leading festival that is attended by people from all over eastern Bhutan. It is a three-day religious and cultural event which amply portrays Bhutanese culture in its full splendor and glory with many an entertainment acts to thrill the crowds parading the streets such as sacred mask dances and traditional folk songs and dances to name a few. The festival will be held this year from 26 to 28 April, 2015 at Yongphula Goenpa, Yongphula in the district of Trashigang. The festival is organized by the monks and people of Yongphula that adds more colour and harmony to it. One of the major highlights not to be missed during this event is the carved wooden board above the entrance of the monastery which is believed to have been created by the famous Tibetan writer Gunden Chhophel during his brief time spent in eastern Bhutan in the 1960s.Uma by COMO, Paro will be a leading luxury Paro hotel that would open its doors for accommodation for the crowds coming from various parts of eastern Bhutan to be part of this eventful festival.
