One of the most difficult languages to master for English speakers is none other than Chinese. To encourage students around the world to learn and speak the Mandarin language and its skills, China organises the International Mandarin Competition also popularly known as the Chinese Bridge Competition. The latest event was hosted this year by Yunnan Province located in Southern China.
More than 390 contestants, all high school students from around the world gathered in Yunnan and participated in the 7th Chinese Bridge Competition to show off their Mandarin skills. It was amazing and commendable to see the near perfection fluency of the language by some of contestants. Apparently some of these contestants have spent their time honing their skills while living in small Chinese villages. The audience was given a treat with the show provided by the contestants with their traditional Chinese skills that included folk songs, dancing, tai chi, opera, martial arts, speaking and writing. Winners of this contest get the opportunity to further their study in China or will be awarded scholarships to teach Chinese as a second language. The demand for accommodation during this international contest had Anantara Xishuangbanna Resort & Spa, a modern luxury hotel Yunnan has to offer getting its own share of guests during the event.
