During your stay in the Thai capital at an apartment hotel Bangkok like the Citadines Sukhumvit 8 Bangkok this is an event you do not want to miss. Chinese New Year is an important traditional Chinese holiday celebrated at the turn of the Chinese lunisolar calendar often referred to as the “Lunar New Year” which is celebrated this time on February 15th 2015. According to myth, a beast called ‘Nien’ would come to town and ravage people’s homes, so in order to prevent this the whole of Bangkok looks as if it is painted in red with shop and home owners of Chinese descent decorating their places with red paper lanterns, Chinese calligraphy banners, and posters. On this monumental day, Bangkok streets are filled with parades that feature dragons, acrobatic dancers and firecrackers!
