Get your paper lanterns out, course Chinese New Year is here once again! If you’re staying inSathorn apartments, like the renowned Ascott Sathorn Bangkok head over to Yaowarat, Bangkok’s Chinatown, where all the major celebrations take place.

Chinese New Year celebrations go on for a long time. They run 15 days from New Year’s Day to the end of the Spring Festival, which is a celebratory day called the Lantern Festival. This year, the New Year falls on February 19th.
On Chinese New Year’s Day, Yaowarat looks as if it’s painted in red, as all shops and houses are decorated with red paper lanterns, Chinese calligraphy banners, and posters. There are many traditional dances and performances taking place throughout the day. Vibrant dragon parades snake their way through Yaowarat Road and the streets become a spectacle to behold with hundreds of brightly lit paper lanterns.
