Indonesia prepares to welcome millionth Aussie tourist for the year

Indonesia is tipped to become Australia’s favourite overseas destination overtaking New Zealand, with an estimated number of tourists more than a million expected to visit the country by the end of the year. A decade ago, New Zealand attracted approximately three times the number of Australians to its shores than Indonesia but the tables have turned around with Bali becoming Indonesia’s major draw card and tourist attraction. With the rapid advancement of the influx of Australian visitors this year, Indonesia now stands poised to reach the one million milestone for the first time in a calendar year and topple New Zealand as Australia’s No. 1 outbound destination as early as next year.

The good news coincides together with the decision Indonesian government has taken to scrap the USD 35 visa entry fee for Australian nationals from January 1 next year. The uniqueness and culture of Indonesia plays a pivotal role in making the country a major attraction for the Australians. Besides, the transformation of Indonesia’s vision on tourism and infrastructure within the last decade together with greater accessibility and value for money than ever before has seen a drastic increase in the interest of the Australians to divert their focus from New Zealand to Indonesia. Bali, being the most fun-filled and sought after tourist destination in Indonesia, caters to a wide variety of appealing accommodation options such as Anantara Seminyak Bali Resort & Spa, a dynamic resort in Bali.
