Seychelles’ utility company given funds to improve service delivery – Big Hopes for the Seychelles PUC’s future

The Public Utilities Corporation (PUC) of Seychelles secured a grant of $320,000 to improve the water, electricity and sewage treatment services in the nation. The grant was funded by BADEA, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa. Seychelles is one of the 10 African countries that requested funding and technical assistance from BADEA. The Public Utilities Corporation was provided with the funds to improve its service delivery. According to PUC’s chief executive Philip Morin, the company has been established for three decades and is in urgent need of modernizing its human resource capacity with a special focus on customer services. Needless to say, the Seychelles hotel sector, that features luxury establishments such as the AVANI Seychelles Barbarons Resort & Spa, will also benefit a great deal from improved utilities and customer care. The grant is expected to fund the PUC for more than two years.
