Sigiriya Rally Cross 2016 – Nurturing Motoring Excellence in Sri Lanka

The Sigiriya Rally Cross 2016, which was held on 5th June 2016 at the Sri Lanka Army Force Sigiriya Racing Track, was considered to be one of the biggest highlights of the motor racing calendar, and thus attracted a large number of attendees who resided in Sri Lanka luxury resorts located in the vicinity such as Heritance Kandalama and many others. Organised by the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association (SLADA) in association with the Sri Lanka Air Force, the Rally hosted 23 events categorised based on the type of motor vehicle and its engine capacity. Thus, events were held under categories such as ‘E Cars up to 1000cc Nissan’, ‘Racing Motorcross Bikes’, ‘Mix Over 65CC up to 85cc’ and Modified Cars up to and including 1050cc’. After the conclusion of the events, the Best Rider Award was given to Ishan Dasanayaka while the Best Driver Award was clinched by Ushan Perera.
