Special event marking the birthday of his majesty the late King Bhumibol Abdulyadej – In remembrance of a great king

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) staged a special event along the Bhumibol 1 Bridge in Bangkok, in honour of the birthday anniversary of the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, on 5th December 2016. The event, while a mark of respect for the late king, was also a big tourist attraction for many. In anticipation of the event, hundreds of travellers had fully booked several hotels in the city, like the Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, for example, a famed luxury hotel in Bangkok. Several activities during the event highlighted the late king’s life and long reign. This included a ceremony which saw essential items donated to 999 Buddhist monks in tribute to King Bhumibol, mass singing of the royal anthem and an 89-second silence in tribute of the king. The location of the event was chosen as the late king was keen to improve transportation for the betterment of the people.
