Sri Lanka Plans to Attract 100,000 Chinese Tourists Within the Next 12 Months – An Upcoming Venture!

A local tour operator, Green Leaves Leisure, with the backing of the Sri Lankan Tourism Ministry, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Beijing based, Yingke Travel to promote the island as a world class tourist destination. While also providing better facilities for Chinese tourists. The project is expected to draw in an estimated revenue of US$120 million.

In regard to the project, John Amaruatunga, the Minister of Tourism states that China is an extremely important destination for Sri Lanka and they hope to attract 100,000 Chinese tourists within the next 12 months with the newly signed agreement. The upcoming venture will include Chinese weddings in SL, visits to historical and archaeological sites, and beach related activities which will bring many hotels in Kaltura such as Gedra, an influx of guests.
