The Military Led ‘Selfie’ Attractions Expect to Drive More Tourists to Chiang Mai – Working Toward Building the Tourism Industry

Thailand is constantly on the drive looking for ways to increase tourism in the country. One of their successful projects was creating an attraction for selfies. The project led by the military is being executed in Huey Tueng Tao Reservoir which is an ecotourist attraction in Chiang Mai. They have currently completed a 4-meter tall King Kong Structure made of straw.

During this time the military has also taken action to stop forest fires that often tend to break out in this area. Another such projected that was completed some time ago was the Su Tong Pae bridge which goes across 200m of rice fields. There are small bamboo huts and a tent-setting ground for those who wish to stay overnight. This particular bridge was a big hit with tourists. There is hope that the King Kong sculpture too will bring more tourist to hotels in Chiang Mai, one of them being Anantara Chiang Mai Resort.
