US working with Sri Lanka to boost trade and tourism – Promoting South Asian Connections

The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the South and Central Asian Affairs, Manpreet Singh Anand, recently announced that the United States will be working closely with the Sri Lankan government in order to promote the island nation’s trade and tourism. He went on to state that a closer eye will be kept specifically on the areas harshly affected by the country’s 30-year long war.

Seven years after the civil war has come to an end, Sri Lanka is now slowly developing itself into becoming a trade and tourism hub, much like its fellow Southeast Asian neighbours, Singapore and Malaysia.

Global hospitality trade partners have opened up shop all around the island; one good example being the Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, a luxurious Tangalle hotel situated along the southern coast of the island.
