Last December Abu Dhabi opened its borders for tourists from certain foreign countries and regions. This has been a welcome boost as the country continues to follow strict health guidelines; this includes 5-star hotels in Abu Dhabi which have adopted numerous hygiene, safety and sanitisation protocols such as those implemented at properties like Anantara Eastern Mangroves Abu Dhabi Hotel.
As of the guideline update on 17 January 2021, passengers must take a COVID-19 PCR test within 96 hours before departure and once they arrive, submit to thermal screening and another PCR test. Those on an approved list of countries will not have to quarantine but must self-isolate at a hotel or one’s home till the results come in; such persons will also have to undergo PCR tests on the sixth and twelfth day after their arrival. Those from destinations not exempt from quarantine will have to self-isolate for 10 days and are required to take a PCR test on the eighth day after arrival.
