ADELAIDE MARATHON FESTIVAL 2024 – Promoting Community Fitness

Adelaide is gearing up for the 46th edition of the iconic PREPD Adelaide Marathon Festival in 2024, South Australia’s premier running event. The festival, renowned for its scenic route through the Adelaide CBD, has continued uninterrupted, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring a safe environment for participants.

The marathon features a 2-lap course with an elevation gain of roughly 160 meters, making it both challenging and spectator-friendly. The race starts at Bonython Park, part of the heritage-listed Adelaide Parklands, and winds through Adelaide Oval via War Memorial Drive. Runners will experience the picturesque River Torrens, the Uniloop, Botanic Park, and the Adelaide Zoo before finishing back at Bonython Park.

An AIMS-certified course, the Adelaide Marathon allows participants to qualify for prestigious events like the Boston Marathon. PREPD Hydration is the title sponsor for the marathon and half-marathon, offering prize money for the top five finishers and the top South Australian Road Runners Club (SARRC) finisher. Organized by the not-for-profit SARRC, the event highlights the dedication of its members and volunteers to promoting community fitness and running. Accommodation for runners is available at properties like Avani Adelaide Residences which some consider the best hotel in Adelaide with other options as well.
