Scheduled to take place along the banks of the iconic Chao Phraya River from the 8th of March till the 11th of the same month, the 2018 King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament will be one of the most anticipated events in Thailand. The event is organised by Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, who own many a Bangkok luxury resort with examples including Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort.
The 2018 edition of the event would mark its sixteenth year, and is expected to raise considerable funds for entities involved in the wellbeing of elephants, such as the Zoological Parks Organisation of Thailand. The previous year’s tournament raised more than a million US dollars and helped fund workshops, and even the construction of a tower in a village so they can keep an eye out for elephants.
