Anantara Announces Dates to Bangkok’s 2018 King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament

The King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament, an annual event hosted by Anantara Hotels and Resorts is set to take place from 8th to 11th March 2018 beside the Chao Phraya River in the Thai capital, Bangkok. The event is part of this hospitality brand’s continued support towards elephant conservation; this includes beginning The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation which focuses on rescuing “street elephants” and the setting up of Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort, quite unique amongst Chiang Rai hotels since it features an elephant cap with rescued elephants.

20 “unemployed” elephants that used to work in the streets will take part in the 2018 King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament and here they will receive complete veterinary checkups and be given essential care, food and vitamins. Though it is a competition, the event has strict rules that ensure these gentle giants are well looked after as well as making sure participating elephants are not those that have been smuggled or captured from the wild.
