In celebration of the Thai National Elephant Day, special elephant-centred events were held on 13th March at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort. Termed as the “Mountain Fête”, the programme was hosted at the resort which is amongst the leading Chiang Rai hotels and at the neighbouring Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation (GTAEF) Camp.
As part of the event, local businesses and schools, as well as other visitors, were invited to the GTAEF Camp where they had the chance to learn and interact with elephants. They also found out about the foundation which has rescued more than 60 “working elephants” from Thai city streets. The Mountain Fête included demonstrations on elephant osteopathy and elephant cognition research, an introduction to elephant veterinary work, watching elephants bathing at Ruak River and an arts and crafts market. Connected to this event, Anantara will also host the inaugural Elephant Boat Race & River Festival in Bangkok from 29th to 31st March.
