The much-anticipated Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics drew to a successful close last month in China’s capital. The games which included Olympic and Paralympic competitions ran from 4th to 20th February 2022 under the official theme, “Together for a Shared Future”. Amongst the events which drew competitors from around the world were alpine skiing, ice hockey, speed skating, figure skating, curling, bobsleighing and snowboarding. In the medals table, Norway came out on top with 16 gold, 8 silver and 13 bronze medals.
Beijing became the first city to host both Winter and Summer (in 2008) editions of the Olympics and featured diverse venues in three zones. The Beijing Zone, in the city itself, included the National Stadium, National Aquatics Centre and National Indoor Stadium within easy reach of Beijing serviced apartments in the transportation hub of Dongzhimen; such properties like Ascott Raffles City Beijing make an ideal base for those looking to catch such sporting events in the future too. The other two zones with venues were the Yanqing Zone around 75 km from the city and the Zhangjiakou Zone about 180 km away.
