Coming up on the 29th of June is the Independence Day of Seychelles; a day which celebrates the nation’s hard-won independence from the British colonists. Seychelles gained independence from the British on June 29th, 1976 with James Mancham being the first president of the independent state. People from across the country celebrate this victory as one. Seychelles, unlike other countries, celebrates this day in a different way; where families go on a picnic to the nearest and local parks. There are many spectacular events held across the islands which include fireworks as one of the best features. Many a hotel in Seychelles such as the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino also hosts such events to commemorate this amazing day.
