The Chiang Mai Zoo’s aquarium has unveiled a fresh look after undergoing a 29-million-baht renovation. Funded by the Zoological Park Organization (ZPO), the project aimed to modernize facilities, enhance educational experiences, and strengthen the aquarium’s role in conservation.
Visitors can now explore the world’s longest underwater tunnel, measuring an impressive 133 meters and it is one of the best things to do in Chiang Mai. The revamped aquarium prioritizes environmental awareness and showcases over 80 river fish species from the Mekong and Chao Phraya Basins. This unique collection positions the aquarium as both a top tourist destination and a crucial research and conservation centre in Northern Thailand. The ZPO anticipates a 10% rise in revenue due to the renovations and has allocated an additional one million baht to further diversify the displayed marine life. If visitors want to plan their vacation around this attraction, they can book a stay at hotels such as Anantara Chiang Mai Resort.
