The Cinnamon Future of Tourism Summit was held on the 26th of September 2017 and deliberated examples by the experts in from around the world on the theme “Technology, Innovation and Authenticity.” Most of the participants stayed in perhaps best known as a wildlife enthusiast’s getaway, Habarana Village by Cinnamon, a well-known Sri Lanka resort that offers close proximity to some of the popular tourist hotspots like Sigiriya.
This event was a one day conference and Doug Lanksy, acclaimed travel writer and industry leader on destination development and travel and tourism trends delivered the keynote speech on “making destinations ready for the future.” There was a high profile panel of speakers including Sanjay Nadkarni, who talked about the use of “customer data for innovation to deliver a superior customer experience and revenue enhancement,” editor for CNN Travel Brekke Fletcher who spoke on “understanding tomorrow’s traveler.” “Future of Chinese Outbound Tourism and opportunity in Sri Lanka” topic was elaborated by Roy Graff while Jereon Gulickx spoke on “changing the hospitality landscape of the future to make your hotel profitable.”
