Data suggests that travel between Shenzhen and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region peaked in April during the Ching Ming Festival and Easter holidays. Customs and transportation stations from both sides prepped for the highest level of commuter traffic they’ve experienced since travel was reopened in January this year. It was reported by Shenzhen authorities that there was a single-day volume of about 700,000 people across all Shenzhen ports.

The COVID-19 pandemic prevented many Hong Kong citizens from visiting their relatives on the mainland for the Ching Ming festival, and they had the opportunity to make up for lost time during this long holiday period. Enjoying the Ching Ming festival was an interesting experience for new visitors too, and many would have likely taken up lodging at properties like Ascott Aden Shenzhen, known as one of the best apartments in Shenzhen, China for extended stays.
