Hundreds of hopeful travellers lined up from 4:45am for the chance to enjoy an April trip to Uluru, a huge sandstone monolith and sacred Aboriginal site in the Northern Territory.

This is yet another sign of the growing domestic tourism market including in regional Queensland; it has much to offer and can be experienced on stays at hotels in Mackay including well-placed properties like Oaks Mackay Carlyle Suites in the city centre. Additionally, the Queensland government unveiled a package worth $7.5 million targeting workers who take up jobs in the regional tourism market. Dubbed the “Work in Paradise” campaign, it kicked off on 1st July 2021 and featured a $1,500 incentive for people to relocate for jobs and travel vouchers worth $250.
