Scheduled to happen on the 7th of June 2019, the date is based on the lunar calendar, thus varies from day to day on the Gregorian calendar. The history of this festival spans over 2000 years, hence a relatively important festival for the people of China, however, it officially became a holiday in China only in 2008. The top traditions during the festival aside from the dragon boat racing are eating Zongzi, wearing sachets, hanging calamus and Chinese Mugwort.
The Dragon Boat festival is celebrated across East Asia, so if you’re lucky enough to be at any of the Lushan Mountain hotels during this time, it’s a must that you experience this festival. While you stay at Lushan Resort, you can travel to the nearest city to check out the celebrations.
