Emirates resumed its daily direct flights from Dubai to Adelaide, delivering a major economic boost to South Australia. The service, which began last night, connects Adelaide to over 140 global destinations, projected to inject $160 million into the local economy annually, including $62 million from tourism alone.
The flights, operated by Boeing 777-200LR aircraft, offer 302 passenger seats and significant cargo capacity, facilitating over 220,000 annual travellers and generating 315 tourism-related jobs. With weekly passenger capacity exceeding 4,200 seats and freight exports valued at $98 million per year, the service is a boon for trade and tourism alike.
The flight schedule ensures convenience for travellers, departing Dubai at 02:00 and arriving in Adelaide at 20:50, with return flights departing Adelaide at 22:40 and landing in Dubai at 05:20. The South Australian government and Adelaide Airport collaborated to reinstate this service, highlighting its importance to both tourism and trade.
This development complements other air service expansions, including China Southern Airlines’ return and additional Air New Zealand flights. Officials like Premier Peter Malinauskas and Minister Zoe Bettison lauded Emirates’ comeback for its economic and connectivity benefits.
This development also brings a positive outlook for Adelaide hotels and other accommodation options, such as Avani Adelaide Residences, as the city expects an influx of international visitors, strengthening Adelaide’s position as a premier destination.
