The Maldives becomes easily reachable now from Kochi with direct flights that will be taking off from Kerala. Those travelling from the city are benefited by this greatly. The plan is said to be implemented from the 28th of October this year. The national carrier for the Maldives, the Maldivian, will be flying from Kochi to Hanimaadhoo airport.
As the Maldives is just 1 hour away from Kochi, there will be 3 flights taking off on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The aircraft used will be the Canadian firm’s Dash 8-300 to travel from Kochi to Hanimaadhoo. The aircraft has enough space for 50 people to be on board. With greater accessibility from India to the Maldives, visitors to the islands are bound to increase. Hotels like The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort will be benefactors of this as well. India is one of the biggest markets for the Maldives especially when it comes to honeymoons.
