The annual Swiss Food Festival kicked off in style at the iconic Mount Lavinia Hotel which was become somewhat of a staple when it comes to delivering Swiss delights to its loyal clientele in its 210 year history. The scintillating food festival which was jointly organized by the colonial era hotel and the Sri Lankan Embassy of Switzerland was held from the 2nd to the 7th of August in the hotel’s Sunset Chalet after 7pm. The premier hotel Colombo ranks among its top accommodation providers for over two centuries hosted the event which was formally named ‘A Taste of Switzerland ‘ with great success by not only offering an array of Swiss culinary delights the likes of Appenzeller Cheese Spaetzle, Swiss Carrot Cake and Zurichoise but also by transforming the Sunset Chalet with conventional Swiss Treicheln bells and flags adorning its walls. Swiss music was performed by saxophonist and flutist Franziska Meyer while Adi Recht entertained guests on the traditional Swiss musical instrument known as The Alphorn.
