Floating Football pitch Attracts Tourists

Panyee, the paradise island of Thailand with its azure waters and the surrounding beautiful limestone cliffs has breathed in new life with its spectacular all new floating football pitch that has begun to attract tourists from around the world to see this wonder. While Thailand as a country suffered a setback in tourism arrivals due to recent conflicts this little fishing island Panyee has managed to maintain a boom in the tourist arrivals not because of fishing or the beauty of the island but simply because of the stunning floating football pitch which is a marvel to see and play on. The excitement of foreign visitors over the community’s innovative and highly unusual football pitch keeps them coming to witness the new invention.

Nestled next to the island’s ferry pier, the 50 by 80 foot pitch has become almost like a national treasure after an advertising campaign by a Thai bank in 2010 made the fishing community locally famous for their dedication to football. The main slogan in marketing campaigns to attract tourists to the island is “Come to Panyee, come see the floating football pitch” which has been highly successful to generate a daily gross revenue of more than 70,000 baht from tourists who visit the island to see the floating football pitch itself. A spacious and luxurious accommodation option to stay when you are visiting to see the floating football pitch is Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort & Spa, a popular luxury hotel in Samui that has it all to provide comfort and convenience.
