Food Tourism Integral to Boosting Cambodian Economy

High-ranking officials and those within the tourism industry of Cambodia met recently at the first-ever International Conference on Cambodian Gastronomy and Food Tourism. The event took place in August at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel. The role of food tourism to attract more visitors to the country as well as to boost the local economy was discussed at the conference.

It is hoped that moving forward, greater emphasis will be placed on promoting Cambodia’s culinary offerings and how it can be used to connect with the tourism industry. Furthermore, by highlighting and promoting local food traditions, economic development can also be fostered.
