Gilded Glory: Chaozhou Woodcarving exhibition in Tsim Sha Tsui – Showcasing customs and lifestyle of Chaoshan

Want to know more facts and get up close with amazing woodcarvings in China? Gilded Glory: Chaozhou Woodcarving exhibition which is currently taking place at the Hong Kong Museum of History will last until 25th February 2019. Displaying more than 120 exhibits, the unique architectural style featured in each woodcarving was extremely popular across ancient Chaozhou prefecture in Guangdong province. Main highlights of the exhibition include a small wooden shrine featuring a wooden biwu dingshuai, a lacquer painting known as “Wine from Wang Maosheng”, a gilt wooden divine sedan chair, plum blossoms in openwork and more. This will be an ideal place to catch a glimpse of the ingenious openwork carving techniques, many meaningful folk motifs of the Chaoshan region.
