Hoi An Sparkles at New Year

Hoi An, home to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the ancient Hoi An town, welcomed the New Year with much fervor and festivities.

There was a massive influx of tourists for New Year’s and the province welcomed its 1.7 millionth international tourist at An Hoi Garden. At New Year’s, all the major streets such as Bach Dang and Tran Phu and ancient houses were converted into centers for a range of cultural activities including traditional weaving and embroidery demonstrations. Vibrant masquerades, folk and modern dances promenaded the streets and tasty Vietnamese treats were sold at the large number of street stalls that were opened. At night, as soon as the clock hit 12, stunning pyrotechnic shows dazzled the Hoi An skies. It truly was a sight to behold….
