Malaysia Day Held This Month – Celebrating the Forming of a Nation

Malaysia Day was commemorated and celebrated on the 16th of September. This day is a time people remember the forming of Malaysia in 1963; this took place when the Malaysian Federation was joined with the East Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah (formerly North Borneo) as well as Singapore. Interestingly, Singapore separated from this federation in 1965, while Malaysia’s Independence Day falls on 31st August and commemorates the Malayan Declaration of Independence.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related restrictions, this year’s Malaysia Day celebrations took place on a more moderate scale at the Sabah International Convention Centre.
