Maldives Celebrates its 53 Years of Independence in July 2018 – A Historic Day!

Perfectly orchestrated parades, colourful drill events performed by kids and the youth, traditional dances, and music performed live in front of your eyes are just a glimpse of events that were hosted on the independence day of Maldives!

The 23^rd of July 2018 marked 53 prosperous years of independence to Maldives from the British. The archipelago came under the control of the British Empire following the fall of the reign of sultans in the year of 1887. But fortunately the British colonizers had to abandon Maldives due to the high expenses they had to bear in order to maintain their troops stationed in the island. After few years after their departure, Maldives was made a republic and 23^rd of July was announced to be a public holiday and was made a day to celebrate the occasion. This year a number of events took place all over the islands including Maldives island resorts the likes of Naladhu Private Island Maldives.
