One of the most sought after tourist destinations in the world, the Maldives Islands draws thousands of tourists for its beauty and adventures it has to offer to the world. Recently the government of the Maldives spoke of their future plans to increase the tourist arrivals to island. The president recently launched the “Visit Maldives Year 2016” campaign which is expected to draw close to 1.5million tourists during the year.
Currently travellers visiting the isle seek accommodation at hotels, villas and Maldives luxury resorts including PER AQUUM Huvafen Fushi. With the proposed plan holidaymakers from all across the globe are expected to arrive in the isle thus increasing the need for accommodation which in turn affects the economy of the isle. Under the proposed campaign the government plans to host a surfing event, an underwater festival, photography exhibition and a tree planting campaign all of which will be organized by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation. The country will also host the ITB Berlin tourism fair in March. Though there was a decrease in tourist arrivals in January, Maldives is set on receiving 1.4 million travellers by the end of year 2015.
