Amidst growing competition from neighbouring countries in the travel and hospitality sector, the Maldives has once again proved why it is regarded as the most celebrated destination in the Indian Sub-Continent. This was largely due to its recent recognition as the Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards 2016 which was held for the 23rd time in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Seen as the Travel Industry’s equivalent to the Oscars, this year’s ceremony proved no different from last time as the Maldives was presented with this award for a second consecutive year. Thus reaffirming its position as an acclaimed holiday destination amongst its patrons and ardent followers. Amongst the awards secured were that of the ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Leisure Hotel’ and ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination.’ These glowing accolades are testament to the contribution that Maldives islands resorts such as the Naladhu Maldives renders towards the tourism sector and local economy.
