The artificial beach located on the eastern side of Male has been gaining the attention that it deserves since it was set up. The housing ministry, therefore, has dished out MVR 13 million which amounts to US$ 843,000 to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company owned by the state itself. These funds are to be used to develop the artificial beach in Male.
Dr Mohammed Muizz, the Housing Minister stated at the signing ceremony that in addition to deepening the swimming area, seats, open showers, cafes and an outdoor gym will be constructed here. The projected is estimated to take five months to complete. The cafes and restaurants already at the beach have been instructed to shut down for this period of time. Once completed, the artificial beach is sure to attract locals and tourists from nearby Maldives 5-star hotels, for example, well-known places like Adaaran Prestige Vadoo.
