After two years, Myanmar reopened its international borders giving the tourism industry a much-needed boost. The border reopening took place on 17th April 2022 and saw international flights being accepted once more. While there was an initial set of guidelines in place for travelers, this was subsequently updated with the new protocols coming into effect from 1st May 2022.
As per the regulations, to enter Myanmar, tourists must be fully vaccinated and present a negative result of a COVID-19 RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before arrival. They must also submit to a COVID-19 Rapid Diagnostics Test at their own cost and purchase COVID-19 medical insurance through Myanma Insurance. Tourists are free to exit the airport if the test result is negative and can stay at a suitable hotel; Naypyidaw, Myanmar, the nation’s capital, continues to be an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers with centrally located properties like PARKROYAL Nay Pyi Taw adopting enhanced hygiene and sanitization measures too.
