A country known for effectively combating the COVID-19 pandemic, New Zealand continues to get back on track on the road to recovery. While it has implemented strict border measures, it also launched two-way travel bubbles with Australia and the Cook Islands; in March this year, it additionally began a one-way travel bubble with Niue, an island nation in the South Pacific Ocean.
That said, with travel bubbles sometimes being suspended, New Zealand has turned to bolster domestic tourism. As highlighted on the Stuff website on 3rd July 2021, Tourism New Zealand has been encouraging locals to travel within the country and experience its many allures; according to findings, as of July 2021, there was a 15% increase in domestic spending (approximately $1.1 billion) during a 12 month period. Locals have much to look forward to as well in destinations like Auckland; harbour hotels near the waterfront like Auckland Harbour Suites offer an ideal base from which to safely experience the very best of the city.
