Getting around Sri Lanka’s commercial capital, Colombo, when you do not have a vehicle of your own can be quite an arduous task if not for taxi cabs and the ubiquitous three wheeled vehicle known as ‘tuks.’ Making life that much easier, for the smart phone user that is, the latest PickMe app gives you the chance to see exactly what tuks or cabs are in the vicinity before making a booking through the app itself. This will provide a valuable tool not only for locals but foreign travellers as well who may opt to stay at a centrally located Colombo city hotel such as Colombo Courtyard as they embark on their adventures in the city. The PickMe app which is available free to download on Google Playstore or iOS works by using the GPS coordinates of your location and showing you exactly what tuks or cabs are nearby along with information such as driver name, charges per km and how many people or luggage can be transported. Once you make your selection the driver will call you and soon be at your location.
