Popularly known as the ‘Hungry Ghost’ festival, the annual Por Tor festival took place from the 8th to 24st of August 2014. Noted as a significant event for the ethnic Chinese, it features flowers, candles and of course traditional food that are offered on altars for deceased ancestors. It is a truly distinctive event worth witnessing and is celebrated at most of the Chinese shrines across Phuket and beyond. Those who missed out on experiencing the event’s festivities can look forward to doing so next year. And if you plan on basing yourself at a Phuket luxury resort, a choice to consider is Point Yamu by COMO Phuket.
