Finally the long awaited and the most anticipated film of all time – Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens premiered in Abu Dhabi on 16 December, just the day before it opened in other local cinemas and within less than 2 days after its world premiere that was held in Los Angeles on 14 December. The regional premier of the sensational block buster movie bringing back the famous trio of heroes from George Lucas’ 1977 original has already surpassed way ahead the box office records on turnover from any blockbuster movie of all time and was held at Emirates Palace, with attendance by invite-only. Highly acclaimed regional and international stars and celebrities graced the occasion making it an international premier that was highly talked about and covered by the media and press. The most remarkable achievement for Abu Dhabi with the latest Star Wars episode was its close involvement in the movie due to a part of the movie being filmed in Abu Dhabi last year.
