Reopening of Hoota Cave–Travellers Welcome Once Again

Al Hoota Cave, a popular tourist destination, was opened for tourists from the 5th of September after undergoing renovation. The cave was originally opened in 2006 and was highly popular from the beginning. Most travellers, who chose to stay at a Sur beach hotel such as the Sur Plaza Hotel, considered the cave as a must-visit attraction.

The cave is only accessed for a length of about 800 metres but the entire cave extends up to 5 kilometres under the ground. Due to its location, the cave faces various natural challenges such as flooding which was the main reason for it to be closed down for repairs. The cave was discovered centuries ago, by locals and its name ‘Al Hoota’ is derived from the name of the village in which it is located. The cave is now open for visitors from Saturday to Thursday from 9am – 1pm and 2pm – 5.15pm and at 9am – 12pm and 2pm – 5.15pm on Fridays.
