With the Civil Aviation Department recently granting Samui Airport to increase its flight capacity from 36 to 50 flights a day, Samui’s tourism sector is geared to have a boom in the coming days. This will enable hotels on the island to enjoy a pick-up in demand due to the increased accessibility attracting more tourists to Samui. Currently there are five airlines that offer direct flights to Samui from Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Hong Kong, George Town, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Kunming. The current airlines offering direct flights to Samui include Thai Airways, Firefly, Slikair and Lucky Air. Lucky Air was the most recent airline to fly to Samui with their launching of three flights a week from Kunming since last August. Currently there is an average of 38 flights flying to and from Samui daily. With the hotel market in Samui picking up on its demand for occupancy, Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort & Spa, a leading Samui Resort stands to immensely benefit from this latest development of wider air passage to Samui.
