Songkran 2015 in Bangkok- Celebrating Thai New Year

The famous Songkran festival will be held from the 13th to 15th of April 2015. However the New Year is celebrated on different dates in other regions. Locals usually celebrate the festival by offering food and prayers to monks, asking for blessings by pouring water on Buddha statues and organizing family reunions. The first day of the festival is considered as the National Elder’s Day and the following day as the National Family Day.

Travellers planning to tour the city of Bangkok this time of the year and are seeking for accommodation could consider a stay at one of the rated serviced suites Bangkok offers such as Anantara Baan Rajprasong Bangkok Serviced Suites. The locals believe that throwing water was a symbol of washing away the bad and believe it will bring good luck in the coming year. Friendly water fights as well as street parties will be taking place during the time of the festival. Tourists and locals alike will be able to take part in these fun filled activities.
