South Africa was under lockdown since the pandemic hit the world in March. COVID19 restrictions had been strictly followed, but the country is now gradually starting to open up so that business and travel will be possible. Nonetheless, the strict rules laid down by the government must be followed. International flights from high-risk zones such as the UK, US, Russia and 50 other countries have been banned.
The airport is mainly open for residents who are coming back into the country, businessman and those with critical skills and those travelling for professional sports events. However, travellers are required to bring a PCR test certificate that states that travellers are not carriers of the virus. The test needs to have been done not more than 72 hours before arrival.
